A small, mixed family farm in the heart of the Stour Valley.
Lower Dairy Farm is a small mixed farm run by the Taylor family. Humphrey’s father bought the farm in 1951 when farming was still very traditional with little modern machinery.
From the start, the farm milked a small Ayrshire dairy herd as well as producing sugar beet, potatoes and cereals. The cattle you see today are all descended from those cows, the move into beef cattle occurring in the 1980s.
Today the farm has 94 acres of grassland ranging from the springs at the stony top of the valley to water meadows beside the River Stour.
All the original field boundaries are in existence providing an excellent diversity of habitats for wildlife which also benefit from the stream and river meadows - all making the farm a very special area.
